Hard drive wipers are programs you use when you want to erase everything on your hard drive, including the operating system. This is something you might want to do if you want to install a new operating system or reinstall your current one and you want to have completely fresh start. Hard drive wipers usually overwrite the information on your hard drive so it will be unrecoverable so it is a good idea to use one if you are planning on selling a hard drive of yours so that who ever purchases your hard drive can not recover your data, like passwords financial information or other personal items.
